Exciting Times

I have to say I've had a lot of exciting things happen to me this year it's been like Christmas almost every month, but the most exciting thing so far was moving back to The Villages seeing old friends and making new ones. Can't forget to say I'm also looking forward to starting my own computer and peripherals technology business. Please feel free to look over my studies in the field of technology page and my services and pricing page. I still plan on the first of the year to start online classes in Berkley Software (BSD) and more classes in network security and network hardening, somethings in life you have to say, it's never enough!

The big kickoff starts the first of the year when I hit the streets and get the chance to meet new people and make new friends and customers.

As you can tell I have made some upgrades not only Windows Server 2003 and Windows 2012 software but also hardware.

Right now I running windows server 2003, 2012 and Fedora linux. Not too long ago I bought two Dell Poweredge 1950 Gen III and two Dell Poweredge 860 Gen III. One of the 1950 runs my IIS8 web server and one of the Dell 860's runs the Wildcat 6 bulletin board services. Can't forget as you can see from the picture a nice Dell Power connect switch and a Belkin KMV.

Almost forgot my UPS crapped out and I had to buy a new unit to protect the equipment. I just had my internet feed upgraded to 200/20 up and down speed. I find the web server a lot more responsive serving web pages up, that's a good thing! When people ask what I use I like to think I can show them this page for details on what I  I have configured and using for use daily. All I'm waiting for is a Cetrix VPN box that I'm going to use for a pfSense firewall.

I’ll also talk about Internet gaming, BBS’S now and what it was before the Internet. And most important friends I have had the joy of meeting through the years on the Internet and also the bulletin board service I run here. I have had a feed for the Internet dating back to 94, does anyone remember before HTML was approved for a Internet standard and everything was telent with ANSI?

On the lighter side of life I also want to mention that I could have used Yahoo 360 or Microsoft, but when you run your own servers half the fun is installing and running your own blog or multiple web sites for myself and other friends.

Dr. Alfred Blalock:

They say you haven't lived unless you have a lot to regret. I regret... I have some regrets. But I think we should remember not what we lost, but what we've done.

Thomas Edison:

Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time…”
